about

Written in Laurel Canyon, CA (Sept 2019). Laurel Canyon is one of the most inspiring places on the planet. "The Canyon" is an ode to Laurel Canyon in late 1960's. There's still something so magical about walking down Laurel Canyon Blvd to the Canyon Country Store for some morning Joe, whilst thinking of the giants who walked that same path 50 years ago.

"Belly of the Beast" is an ode to the Canyon Country Store, tucked in front of Love Street.

"Mojo rises from the ground people groovin' on the sound til someone starts to happen..."

You could say Laurel Canyon was the ripest breeding ground for people to "happen"throughout the mid to late 60's.

lyrics

They say it never rains
In sunny Californ-I-A
It’s true, I must say
Those eucalyptus nights don’t change

Beneath the stars we might dance between the lines
It’s a simple way of life, lazy days and hazy nights
The good wine is out of fashion…

Everyone in the know
is living in the canyon
Time don’t exist
In a place as strange as this

Where everything is fine
When you’re hurling through the sky
As an echo through the canyon
Mojo rises from the ground people groovin’ on the sound
Til someone starts to happen…

Let's wander through the random
Any way you choose is fine
Climbing and winding
Towards sunrise

Where the houses live on hills
Painted through the tree line
There’s something in the way
She makes you wanna stay
Forever out of phase in

In the belly of the beast
Tucked in front of Love Street
The clock runs years behind
That Hollywood frame of mind
Everyone’s guaranteed to be anyone
anyone you oughta be

Anyone you oughta be
Anyone you oughta be
Anyone you oughta be
